Forklift Freight Delivery: What to Expect

Forklifts, stackers and powered pallet jacks don't arrive by parcel van. They ship by truck freight, usually on a pallet or skid. A little preparation makes delivery day smooth and protects you if anything arrives damaged.

Before it ships

Confirm the delivery address and hours. Freight carriers deliver on weekdays during business hours. Tell us about any gate codes, appointment requirements or receiving hours.

Decide how you'll unload. If you have a loading dock, the unit comes straight off the trailer. If you have another forklift on site, you can unload it yourself. If you have neither, add liftgate delivery ($150): the driver lowers the shipment to the ground at the curb.

Know what liftgate doesn't include. The driver doesn't bring the unit inside or set it up. Plan to move it from the curb yourself.

Timing

Equipment Nation ships each unit from the manufacturer's or authorized distributor's warehouse. In-stock units usually leave within 3 to 10 business days, depending on the brand, then transit time depends on your location. Built-to-order units can take longer, and we confirm timing before you pay. You get tracking as soon as it ships. Prefer to collect it? Warehouse pickup is available on select items; if it is, you'll see it on the product page.

On delivery day: inspect before you sign

  1. Look over the packaging and the unit while the driver is there. Check for crushed crating, bent parts, leaks or broken covers.
  2. Write any damage on the delivery receipt before signing, and take photos.
  3. If everything looks good, sign "subject to inspection." That protects you if you find hidden damage later.
  4. Report concealed damage within 3 business days. Call or email us with photos.
  5. If the damage is severe, you can refuse the shipment. Call us right away either way.

After it arrives

Read the operator manual before first use, fully charge the battery on electric units, and make sure anyone driving a forklift is trained and authorized under your workplace rules. Keep your order number and serial number handy for warranty support.

What shipping costs

Freight is free to businesses and residences in the lower 48 on orders over $500. Orders under $500 ship for a flat $150. Liftgate delivery is $150. We don't deliver to P.O. boxes. For Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico, contact us for a quote. More shipping answers.
